Proclaimation.
Let it be known that the hey marseilles rhythm guitarist, previously implicated as the culprit in a misplaced capo fiasco, did in fact have the capo on the correct fret, but was the victim of a combination of a rogue tuner and over-zealous accusers. His name has been cleared and the troglodytes forgiven.
-M. Bishop
day 469
Studio bonding.
Big
ups to friends old and new who came out to the tractor on Thursday, we
really had a great time. While I'm on the topic of "big ups," big ups
to Caravel and Beestings, who both played fantastic sets. The Tractor
has our affections.
I'm penning this text from the suberbs of domesticated Federal Way,
where our major mojito Colin Richey is helping us record the Hey
Marseilles full length. We're all somewhat perfectionists when it comes
to recording, so it is with especially grave conviction and excitement
when I say that we are very pleased with the progress thus far.
--I
think. Pam just discovered that we're accidentally recording a new song
in a different key than we play it live. Capos are dangerous
instruments.
I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. -p
EDIT: I hate recording. I feel like I've been on an airplane
for 3 days. I'm getting neurotic about pitch and rhythm, and nothing
seems to sound right. I want to stab myself with a fancy fountain pen.
day 459
VERA +/+ TRACTOR

our quest for equality and sobriety pushes onward this wednesday. we'll
play with CONSERVATIVE DAD and 2008 sound off 2nd place champions the
NEXTDOOR NEIGHBORS.
then, on thursday, we will rock the tractor tavern with loyal mates
CARAVEL and rumored luminaries BEESTINGS. the accordionist's roommate
says "i know those guys, they're really good."
day 441
High Dive
When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou sayst,
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty," -that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.
We love the healthy times fun club. thanks for coming out. Travis Maiche eats babies.
day 421
Healthy Times Fun Club
Its been a month! Pertinent updates:
- We had a great time at the sunset on the 3rd.
- Seattle Sound wrote about us in their January Issue!
- We're recording a full length
- Someone should volunteer to craft us some stickers.
Anyways. HM doesn't play enough all-ages shows. We're trying to change that. Healthy time fun club is a very cool all-ages venue in Seattle. Luminaries such as Dan Deacon, Peter and the Wold, PWRFL POWER, and a host of great Seattle acts have played there. We would appreciate your all-ages attendance. especially if you're not allowed in 21+ venues. Shoot us an email for directions: info@heymarseilles.com
POSTER TIME.
day 383
ONE YEAR
Hey Pals,
We put our music and ambitions up on the internet about a year ago
(notice we've past day 365). It has been a lot of fun, and a lot of
work.
In 2007 we played twelve shows across Seattle, met a bunch of neat
bands, frustrated more than a few sound guys, broke a couple of laws,
and played some songs. Its been good times.
To celebrate, we've put up the three Christmas songs that we like. You can listen to them on our myspace, and you can download them via the music page on this site.
Many thanks to the Ravenna Attic Singers: Ness, Larissa, Cass, Jacob, and Pam.
love

day 353
HIGH DIVE

day 316
CHOP SUEY.
10 days from now.
oct 24th.
9pm.
Hey Marseilles is excited to open for the Peoples Republic of Komedy's weekly alternative* comedy show, Laff Hole. Half standup, half improv, half chocolate rain-- the event defies the laws of mathematics.
$5 gets you in for the night. Laff Hole has been getting rave reviews, and has been called the savior of live comedy in Seattle. We've been restless for two months. Join us!
[...21+]
chopsuey.com for directions and calendar. top notch venue.
day 271
Thanks to everyone who helped make the high dive show a really good time for us. Thanks.
Shows will halt for a bit since Matt is traversing the US for a couple of months, trying to find himself. Its looking like our return show will be November 28th back at the high dive. More news on that soon. News of shows comes via the mailing list:
day 263: HIGH DIVE is AUGUST 26
I don't know if I mentioned it on here before-- but we are featured in the August issue of the Seattle Metropolitan magazine. This is the magazine that hip people read. Hip rich people with indie cred. And mullets. Multiple mullets.
I'm going to stop there. Matt Bishop wrote the following blurb about our next (and biggest to date) show:
Lovers of spasmodic drumbouriners, whet your appetites! Accordion aficionados, leave your earmuffs at home! Friends of older siblings, prepare to be enthused by our slightly-better-than-mediocrity! As committed readers of p.158 of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine are aware, Hey Marseilles plays the High Dive on August 26th. It's a big show for us, so your support would be appreciated to the end of the earth.
AND PLUS! We play with Fiends & Harlequins and Throw Me the Statue. Both are superb. Both are gonna be big.
Throw Me The Statue: http://www.myspace.com/throwmethestatue
Fiends & Harlequins: http://www.myspace.com/fiendsandharlequins
Moolah Required: $5
21+ s'il vous plait.
Your Hey Marseilles friends.
Apologies if we've invited you and you are unable to attend b/c of age. We want to give you something to which you can aspire.

Time: 7:00pm - 10:00pm (we're on at 9 sharp)
Location: High Dive
Street: 513 N 36th
City/Town: Seattle, WA
day 247
Late. Sometimes in the summer I lose track of days. August 6th? You're kidding me. So I checked my sources. As it turns out, everyone believes that today is August 6th. Whatever.
We have a show this Wednesday, August 8th. It is FREE. Checkout the old redmond firehouse website for details.
Check out this sneak preview of a new hey marseilles song. This song is called lake house. Just kidding.
day 231
Bonjiorno principessa.
There have been relatively few updates here for a couple of reasons. Hey Marseilles has been stagnant! The home where we practiced and recorded and lived and loved was taken back by its owners-- thus leaving us no place to practice... or record... or live... or love.
Tears spilt, clothes torn, instruments scattered, we reunite under downtrodden Seattle skies. With the help of our friends Flashes of Quincey (btw they're playing tonight at ground zero in bellevue-- come!), practices have resumed and our hearts are warmed.
With that said,
we are very excited to be playing a show at the comet tavern on capitol hill on Monday! Come out, come out-- because we haven't seen you in almost a month, and because our friends Caravel are also playing (they are real neat).the deets are:
Monday, July 23rd : the comet tavern
922 E Pike St, Seattle, WA (pike and 10th)
lineup order: starting at 8:00pm
KETMAN, CARAVEL, HEY MARSEILLES, WIMBLEWEATHER
come. bring your friends and come. the cover is $6. love you lots!

day 170
Hello lonely peoples of the world!
.++ >=====<<-- M M
After a couple o' months away from the stage and in the studio-- or Australia, as it may be-- Hey Marseilles reunites to again invigorate the masses salivating for drumbourine. Come! Warm up for Memorial Day weekend goings-on by sharing in song!
Venue: Q Cafe
Date: Friday, May 25th
3223 15th Ave West
Seattle, WA
8:00 : A Leaf
9:00 : Hey Marseilles
P.S. Q Cafe is a very cool place-- a non-profit in fact-- that does much to serve Seattle. Your attendance at its shows supports not only beautiful musicians, but the community at large. Check it @ www.qcafe.org
p.s. several members of hey marseilles play in a group known as man down medic. man down medic plays a show on Saturday the 26th. check check checkitout.
day 148
Hold the Morning is now available for download and is up on the myspace player. It probably isn't finished yet-- but we had to get it out of the studio for some air. Let us know what you think. The date for the Q Cafe show may be changing-- so we'll be sure to announce up here and through the mailing list when we're certain about that show.
Remember your family.
PS | hey marseilles loves the vera project. support em, folks. hit some shows.
day 107
Under the midnight lamplight, a crazed version of bandmate nick whips rebellious studio computer, yelling obsenities and trying to scream in 1s and 0s. Prodigal computer promises to never break again. LED lights spell sorrow, and redemption is the soft glow that illuminates the humanity of love and heartbreak in the faces of bewildered neighbors.
CDs shall come soon. Meanwhile, comrade John Moroney has used a couple of our tracks on his last two "tv" episodes-- "Dating," and "Casual Sex." He's a funny guy. You can check it out at bitchkittyracing.com. Not safe for kids. Not safe for work. Not safe near open flames or direct sunlight.
day 95.5
Jump on our new concert mailing list. This way, you can be sure to never miss a show! Hooray!
day 95
We play at 11 pm on march 16 at the mars bar and would love to see you there! You should come because Chris Robley is intense, and because we have a trendy poster (see below if you don't believe me).
Also, we're going to bring free CDs of our recorded material thus far, including a brand new recording you've never heard. So there really isn't a reason not to come.
09pm | Pop Logic ( http://www.thepoplogic.com/)
10pm | Chris Robley (http://www.myspace.com/chrisrobley )
11pm | HEY MARSEILLES
day 80
Hooray for shows. We had a great time at the Skylark Cafe/Club-- it is a very homey sort of place. Not so much as in, "what is up, homey?" but maybe... yeah... I don't know. It has a warm, organic atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Enough about them. As far as I know, our next shows is at the Mars Bar on March 16th, but check back here every day because we may have a sooner show.
Also... there are a few new pictures up: a couple from our El Corazon show, a couple that will be appearing soon from our Skylark show, and finally, several specimens (more to be coming soon) from a little professional photoshooting we did with our good friend Jeanette. The word Jeanette is actually French for, "takes beautiful pictures," and you can feast your eyes on her work at jbathimages.com. Highly recommended.
day 70
For old and new friends that came out to see us at the zoo tavern, thank you! we all had a really good time. we hope to play there again in the nearer-than-further future.
We have another show coming up on Friday the 16th (next friday) at the Skylark Cafe & Club. I've heard that it is the place to be in west seattle. Best of all, it is free... so use that cover charge money to buy yourself a crepe or something else equally delicious and nutritious. i hear they have dinner too... mmm

day 56
So... it turns out that carrying band equipment around is actually a lot of work.
In other news: With the help of his roommate, Philip was able to mount a small condenser mic in his accordion. He is excited.
day 50
To all that came out to our show at El Corazon... Thanks! We'll try to get pictures from the show up on the images page as soon as possible.
day 44
Hey Marseilles will be opening for Dynamite Walls at El Corazon on Wednesday the 17th. Yep, thats this next Wednesday.
Maybe it is short notice, but hey... hey.
Doors open at 7:00 pm
Show starts at 7:30 pm
More details available at elcorazonseattle.com.
love ya,
philip
hey marseilles
day 10
Loads of new pictures from the rooftop show we played in downtown Seattle. It was a private gig, otherwise you would have been invited. Trust me.
Also, I must say the "images" page looks really good... in Firefox/Netscape/Safari browsers, but a little bit "off" Internet Explorer. Sorry if it derailsyour feng shui-- I'm working on it. [edit: 12/18/06 : fixed. IE users everywhere rejoice!]
We have two new songs getting treatment in the studio right now that should be ready for your listening within the next couple weeks-- so be excited! I am.
day 5
Hello, we are in need of a drummer. Ideally, his/her name will be Joseph, Jeremiah, or Jeanie (superb drummer names), though we do not explicitly discriminate on the basis of name/age/sex/creed/orientation/veteran status/phone number or credit history. We do discriminate on the basis of style and ability. You should be familiar with jazz/folk/rock patterns in 4/4, 3/4, and 3/17. Just kidding (about the 3/17).
Contact us if interested. We can still jam if everything else in the world fails.
day 3
Marseilles. Yes, Google got the spelling wrong.
If you have pennies to spare, you should pick up Sufjan's Songs for Christmas: Vol. V - Peace. Beautiful.
We are currently recording additional material and hope to release an EP early 2007.

Armed with a three-song demo, a name that is difficult to spell, and a very red website, we aim to make our music known.
