East Coast Tour Photo Contest!

The Toad The Wet Sprocket tour was a blast– we had a great time playing in new cities and meeting new friends. Last night marked the end of the tour at the Moore Theater in Seattle, it was an honor to play such a historic venue in our hometown.

Tomorrow night we hop on a plan to hit the east coast. We’re running a photo contest for the east coast tourdates– the details of which can be found on this page. Check out this cool video that our friend Collin made to promote the contest:

On the road again!

Thursday: 2:30am. Myself, Larissa, Nick, Sam, and (Chef) Glynn are awake folding/rolling/taping t-shirts into burritos and labeling XS, S, M, L, XL. David Attenborough is excitedly delivering a sensual monologue on the scientific merits of the Nautilus (propels itself with a jet of water out its posterior, is blind, is beautiful). Can’t believe David Attenborough’s name is David– this whole time we’ve been referring to him as Richard Attenborough. Arguably a stronger name, David.

6:30am. We’re somehow awake and raging through Seattle collecting sleepy musicians in Belltown, the CD, and Fed Waytownville. Hey Marseilles is on the road. We’re driving to San Francisco.

10:36pm: My laptop battery is fading. Time to post. Our tour starts tomorrow at the Fillmore. The dates are below. xoxo, philip

No shows at the moment, sawree.

Tour Blogs up on KEXP.ORG

Our dear friend and esteemed photographer Hayley Young is writing and publishing tour updates as a guest blogger over at http://blog.kexp.org

Check the tour blogs out for polaroids, videos, and level-headed accounts of our West Coast adventures.

Thanks Hayley!

Alki Beach

Big ups to everyone who participated in the video shoot that Hayley Young orchestrated yesterday at Alki Beach. There were folks that started as early as noon, and we didn’t close things down until the cops started doing their light-show around midnight.

The day was brilliant, faces were bright, and the shoot was a total success. Be excited– this video is going to be cool. Thank you to Hayley, the dancers, and all the support!

The April Reader!

Welcome to the April edition of the Hey Marseilles Monthly Reader!

After our busy month of March, which started with an East coast mini-tour and ended with six shows at SXSW, its been nice to be home. This sentiment segues cleanly to the first numbered item of importance.

1. Ultimate Frisbee. It is our relaxation and meditation, our war and our peace. We’re doing weekly pick-up games at upper Ravenna park in Seattle; they’ve been really good. Every Sunday, 2pm. Map: http://bit.ly/aIOU6W. If you feel hesitant, just check our facebook page to see if its still on. Ultimate frisbee can be learned in minutes, and is fun for all. See you Sunday.

2. We’re really excited for our record “To Travels & Trunks” to be released nationally in June. To celebrate the occasion, we’re pressing delicious 180 gram vinyl. Dual LP, Gatefold jacket, yum. The songs are completely re-mixed (HI-FI!), we’ve added one track, and we’re really excited to have the record distributed to record stores across these United States.

3. To celebrate the Vinyl release in Seattle, we’re throwing parties at Vera Project May 21st, and at The Tractor May 22nd. We’ve got some hip bands joining us, we’ll be playing new material, and I think the shows are going to memorable and badass (two adjectives that form a brutal double-punch when used in tandem).

4. www.heymarseilles.com is brand new! On the front page, there is a little guy that will let you download the remixed version of Rio. If any of you enjoy blogging, we’d love to see our little free download traverse the net. Click the <share> button to grab the embed code.

SXSW show schedule!

Get at it! Come say hi– yall mean the world to us: SXSW Show Schedule

The March Reader-ish

March is upon us! Yesterday, we enjoyed the benefits of the 2010 El Nino in sunny 60 degree Seattle; today we shivered in the downtown streets of Saratoga Springs trying to find the best pizza pie Capitaland has to offer. We mostly discovered that the iPhone GPS is subpar.

Tonight brings us our first road show of many in the coming weeks, and if you yourself are a resident of the Northeast, or if you have friends in any of the following locales, we would love to hang in your/their company. Note the preponderance of free/cheap shows on the following list!!!:

TONIGHT! Saratoga Springs, NY: Putnam Den. Doors at 8 PM. FREE for 21+ers/ $5 for young’ns.

TOMORROW! 3.8: New York City, NY: Rockwood Music Hall. 196 Allen St. FREE!

TUESDAY! 3.9: Cambridge, MA: TT the Bear’s. 10 Brookline St. $8.

WEDNESDAY! 3.10: Burlington, VT: Higher Ground. 1214 Williston Rd. $8.

THURSDAY! 3.11: Toronto, ON: Canadian Music Fest. Eh?

From the wicked winter of the Northeast, we’ll be heading to the perpetual summer that is Austin, Texas and South By Southwest. We have so many shows in our 3 days there that Colin’s been ramping up his cardio regimen just to prepare for sprinting through downtown Austin with drums strapped across his backside.

SXSW:

Friday, 3.19. 12:15 PM. Shangri La. WOXY/Future Sounds Party.

Friday, 3.19. 1:00 PM. The Chugging Monkey. Red Gorilla Party.

Friday, 3.19. 7:30 PM. Space 12. The Austin Round.

Saturday, 3.20. 4:00 PM. Space 12. Netzer Co-op Presents Chillax to the MAX!

Saturday, 3.20. 6:30 PM. Lovejoy’s. Faux Pas Productions Party.

Saturday, 3.20. 8:00 PM. St. David’s Sanctuary. Official SXSW Showcase.

And for those Northwesterners who worry that we might never come back, rest assured that we’re contractually obligated to! We’re playing Portland’s Mississippi Studios on 3/25 w/ Fences in what will be an indubitable Seattle funfest.

Until we meet again,

Matt

HM

P. S. Much gratitude to all who joined us for Friday’s SXSW Send-Off at Neumos! The elation we felt following was so overwhelming that a majority of us nearly missed the flight to Boston 6 hours later. Thanks be to Sam’s lead foot.

The February Reader

Its February yall. The time for small-chatting about new years resolutions is over. The time for realizing that small-chat and resolutions are for suckers is now.

We’re going on tour! In March we head out to do some East Coast shows through NY, MA, and VT on the road to the Canadian Music Fest in Toronto, ON to play alongside Great Lake Swimmers, Constantines, Daughtry, and Our Lady Peace. Many details are available and kept mostly-up-to-date on our events page (http://bit.ly/7HchxG). Supertrip:

March 7: Saratoga Springs, NY
March 8: New York, NY
March 9: Cambridge, MA
March 10: Burlington, VT
March 11-12: Canadian Music Fest

We haven’t played many shows on the right coast, and seeing that MTV hasn’t returned our calls re: doing an episode of MTV Cribz at Colin’s house, we would be very appreciative if you would invite your east coast friends/fam to a show. Understatement of the year.

After we conquer the East Coast, we’re heading to sunny Austin, Texas to mingle with thousands of metal-head guitar screamers and double-kick-drum ragers. SXSW is going to be a blast. If you’re going, give us a holla– we’ll get some BBQ.
